Author Rachel Hawkins' novel Hex Hall is a young adult novel in the paranormal genre. When 16-year-old Sophie Mercer botches yet another spell, threatening to expose her status as a witch, she is sentenced to live at Hex Hall, a reform school for Prodigium like herself. Trying to find her place among fellow witches as well as shapeshifters, faeries and Hex Hall's only vampire -- who happens to be her roommate -- Sophie uncovers a plot by a secret society to destroy all Prodigium, and she is their primary target.
