Grown Overview
Grown is a novel by Tiffany D. Jackson. Enchanted, a young Black girl from who dreams of becoming a singer, is introduced to world-famous singer Korey Fields who abuses her in a brutal backdrop to the glitz and glam of the entertainment industry. Enchanted grows to understand the people who participate in a culture that devalues the lives of Black women and the people who are complicit in their abuse. The novel explores themes of racism, hope and purpose, identity, guilt and regret, and the ocean.
