Grime and Punishment Overview
Dav Pilkey's graphic novel, Dog Man: Grime and Punishment, is one installment focusing on a cop with the body of a man and the head of a dog who often makes mistakes but works to keep his city safe from all sorts of villains. In this novel, Dog Man loses his badge after digging up the Mayor's roses, disguises himself as a cat-headed man to become a cop again, and gets reinstated to the force after rescuing the Mayor's beloved stuffed animal from a fire. Meanwhile, Dog Man's friend Lil' Petey teaches his father the power of forgiveness as they figure out how to cope with the villainous Grampa and a huge animated lunch bag. The novel's main themes are the power of love and forgiveness, good versus evil, and remaining true to one's nature.
