Glass Sword Overview
Glass Sword is the second fantasy installment in Victoria Aveyard’s Red Queen trilogy. Mare Barrow must navigate the gray areas in a world divided between two factions: the Red bloods and the superhuman Silvers. On the run from Maven, the new king, Mare sets out to rescue others like her, "newbloods," who possess both Red blood and Silver abilities. With the help of her childhood friend Kilorn, brother Shade, exiled prince Cal, and leader of the Red resistance Farley, Mare must evade Maven’s forces as well as persecution from other Reds to prevent the destruction of the newbloods. Her journey is filled with danger, loss, and betrayal, and she must decide whom to trust – and when. The novel explores themes of identity, trust, strength, independence, and the value of being different.
