Ghosts of the Shadow Market Overview

Cassandra Clare has joined several other writers to compile this series of stories about Shadowhunters. The main story revolves around Brother Zachariah, who was a Shadowhunter named Jem Carstairs in another of Clare's series. As Brother Zachariah, he interacts with other Shadowhunters over more than a century, eventually reaching the point that he is barely clinging to the memories of the two people he loved most when he was human – Tessa Gray and Will Herondale. Eventually, Brother Zachariah is able to return to his human form and, as Jem, reunites with the immortal Tessa. The novel's main themes are the effects of individual relationships on a broader spectrum, the changing roles of women over time, and good versus evil.
