“Full Fathom Five” is a 45-line poem by mid-twentieth century American poet, novelist, and short story writer, Sylvia Plath. The poem was first published in Plath’s 1960 collection, The Colossus and Other Poems. Like several of Plath’s other poems, “Full Fathom Five” takes as its subject Plath’s deceased father to make a wide-ranging critique of traditional masculinity and the patriarchy.
