In Frankissstein: A Love Story best-selling British author Jeanette Winterson creates a contemporary Gothic retelling of Mary Shelley's famous novel Frankenstein. Winterson's novel has two narrative streams: one set in the 19th century following Mary Shelley as she writes and publishes Frankenstein and another set in the present day in which a young transgender doctor falls in love with a mad scientist who is a radical proponent of artificial intelligence.
