Frankenstein in Baghdad Overview
Frankenstein in Baghdad is a literary novel based loosely on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. The plot revolves around a reanimated corpse on a murder spree, terrorizing the city. A government agent from the Tracking and Pursuit Department, an Iraqi intelligence organization employing psychics to predict the locations of terrorist attacks, becomes fixated on apprehending the creature. Its maker, a lowly junk dealer named Hadi, worries about the malevolent force he has unleashed on the city. The novel takes place during the power vacuum of the second American/Iraq war, and considers themes related to horror, religion and the soul, and justice.
