Forest Dark Overview
Nicole Krauss' literary novel Forest Dark tells the stories of two protagonists, Jules and Nicole, who make separate trips to Israel while seeking a means to change their lives. Jules is bereft over the recent loss of his parents when he meets a rabbi who informs him that he is a descendant of the biblical David. Nicole believes she senses a way out of the banality of her existence as an author and mother at the Tel Aviv Hilton Hotel. The novel contains themes related to transcendence, Jewish lineage, and the unknown.
