Fallen Land Overview

Fallen Land by Taylor Brown is set in the American South during the Civil War. After 15-year-old orphan Callum falls in love with 17-year-old orphan Ava, they flee towards the coast of Georgia, pursued by the group of bandits of which Callum used to be a part. Along the way, they observe the terrible destruction wrought by the war. The novel explores themes of love, moral ambiguity, altruism, war, and perseverance.
