Eight Hundred Grapes Overview
Eight Hundred Grapes is a novel by American author Laura Dave. The narrative follows Georgia Ford, a Los Angeles attorney scheduled to marry her fiancé in a week when she sees him walking down a street with a woman and child. Her fiancé, Ben, has kept his ex-girlfriend and child a secret. Georgia drives to her family home in Sonoma County California. Instead of finding the familial comfort she had hoped for, Georgia finds that her father has sold the family vineyard; her parents are separating; and her brother, Finn, has entertained a relationship with his brother's wife, Margaret. Ben and Georgia attempt to work out their relationship snafu in the beautiful surroundings of a vineyard that has been a vital part of her past. Georgia's father has a heart attack, forcing the family members to rally and come together to fix their broken state. Eight Hundred Grapes explores themes of secrets, forgiveness, betrayal, and family.
