Everything you need to understand or teach East Indian by brinda charry.
Brinda Charry's The East Indian is a stunning revisionist look at the early days of colonialism in coastal Virginia from the perspective of its titular protagonist, Tony, who through a series of unexpected circumstances finds himself brought from his home in the Coromandel to the burgeoning indenture economy in America. The novel takes place largely within this world of plantation labor but also explores broader American colonial dynamics as Tony receives the opportunity to travel outside of Jamestown. The novel addresses themes of race, class, gender, friendship, and capitalism.
