Dragon Pearl Overview

Yoon Ha Lee's novel, the Dragon Pearl is the story of Min, a teenage girl from a family of fox spirits who are eking out a life on the planet Jinju when Min learns her older brother, Jun, is missing. Min has a fight with an official and runs away to find Jun. She ends up in the Ghost Sector where she discovers several crew members, including Jun, were sent on a suicide mission to recover the lost Dragon Pearl. Min takes possession of the Pearl and returns home with the ghost of Jun at her side, agreeing she will take on a job with the governing body of her realm. The novel's main themes are social class, greed, and loyalty.
