Diper Överlöde (Diary of a Wimpy Kid Book 17) Overview

Jeff Kinney's graphic novel, Diper Overlode (Diary of a Wimpy Kid Book 17), continues the story of Greg Heffley, a kid who writes down his experiences and supplements his writing with illustrations. Greg's brother Rodrick starts a band called Loded Diper. He is looking for a fast-track to stardom that requires little work and relies on gimmicks. This plan leads to disaster when they take the stage at a band competition.  Then, by chance, members of Metallichihuahua (Rodrick's favorite band of all time) find themselves on the same stage. They are together for the first time in 25 years. They grab Loded Diper's instruments and perform their hit songs from long ago. They perform an encore. After winning the competition, Metallichihuahua's members decide to reunite and go on tour. The novel's main themes are Rodrick's quest for stardom and the role of music in society. The use of imagery in graphic novels serves as a motif.
