“Dear Life” first appeared in the New Yorker in 2011. It was later republished in Alice Munro’s 2012 book of stories, which is also entitled Dear Life. The story features an unnamed narrator who shares many biographical details with Munro. The narrator recalls her childhood in rural Ontario and reflects upon her relationship with her parents and her surroundings.
