In Margaret Atwood's short story "Cut and Thirst," old friends Myrna, Leonie, and Chrissy decide to murder the men who wronged their friend Fern years prior. Although Fern is no longer holding a grudge, the three elderly friends are determined to exact justice on Fern's behalf. They meet regularly to cook up the best possible schemes, but quickly discover the hassle they will face in trying to eliminate their enemies.
