Children of Virtue and Vengeance Overview
Tomi Adayemi's second novel in her Legacy of Orisha series, entitled Children of Virtue and Vengeance, deals with the aftermath of the death of King Saran and the reinstatement of magic into the realm. After working tirelessly to bring magic back, Zelie and Amari are shocked to discover that the ritual they performed gifted not just the maji, but also the nobles, with powers. Together, the girls join a band of rebels to steal the throne away from Amari's brother, King Inan, and his newly magical mother, but the task proves much more difficult than they originally thought, and their different perspectives on how Orisha ought to be fought for and ruled might just end their friendship. As the battle for the realm unfolds, the novel explores friendship, vengeance, power, community, and racism.
