Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, by Isabel Wilkerson, is a work of nonfiction published in 2020. In her thoroughly documented work, Wilkerson explores caste as a global phenomenon, focusing her attention on India, Nazi Germany, and the United States. Her earlier work as a journalist and as the author of The Warmth of Other Suns has earned her multiple literary prizes, among them the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Pulitzer Prize.
