Butterflies in November Overview
Butterflies in November, written by Audur Ava Olafsdottir and translated from Icelandic to English by Brian FitzGibbon, is the story of an unnamed female narrator and her journey after both her husband and her lover suddenly leave her. On this journey, funded by the narrator's winning of both a mobile bungalow and a large sum of money from the lottery, the narrator takes along her friend's deaf son and learns that she is, in fact, cut-out to be a mother, while also fulfilling a fortune teller's prophecy involving dead animals, conceptions, and new lovers.
