Brother, I’m Dying is a memoir by Haitian-American author Edwidge Danticat. In this book, the author writes about the lives of her father Mira and his brother Joseph. Joseph, Mira, and Edwidge were all born in Haiti. However, Mira and Edwidge eventually emigrated from Haiti to America, while Joseph remained in Haiti to continue his profession as a preacher there, despite rising political tensions in the country. The book explores themes of family, death, hope, political strife, and immigration.
