Bluebird, Bluebird Overview
At once a crime novel, a noir thriller, and a racial dialogue, Bluebird, Bluebird tells the story of Darren Mathews, a black Texas Ranger, as he investigates two related murders in a small town in East Texas. Primarily told in the third person from Darren's point of view, the novel examines the concepts of duty to one's own personal values over the fulfillment of professional obligations. Prominent themes in the novel include the black experience, nature, authority, and family.
