Beatrice and Virgil Overview
The narrative of this allegorical novel is anchored by the intertwined stories of two writers, each struggling to find his creative voice under challenging circumstances. As it portrays the way in which the two men, from very different backgrounds, discover and experience certain (and sometimes surprising) commonalities in terms of subject matter and approach, the narrative also explores themes related to the tension between reality and fiction, the relationship between fear and courage, and the function and practice of art.
