Aviva vs. the Dybbuk is a middle grade novel by Mari Lowe. Aviva is in sixth grade, and her house is haunted by a mischievous ghost that only she can see. At school, none of the other girls like Aviva because she never pays attention in class, and the only thing she feels good at is playing machanayim. After she gets in a fight on the court, the principal orders her and her former best friend, Kayla, to plan the Bas Mitzvah Bash together. While doing so, the girls reform their friendship and overcome many obstacles. The novel explores friendship, loneliness, antisemitism, grief, and parentification.
