Asymmetry Overview
Lisa Halliday's debut novel, Asymmetry, tells three seemingly disparate but ultimately connected stories: a relationship between a young editorial assistant and a famous, much older writer in New York City; the detention of an Iraqi-American practical economist at Heathrow Airport and his reflections on his upbringing; and a transcript of a radio interview with the famous writer from the first section, years later. Halliday explores themes of war, detention, and the practice and purpose of writing fiction.
