Amnesty is a novel by Aravind Adiga. The novel takes place in modern-day Australia and follows Dhananjaya “Danny” Rajaratnam, and immigrant from Sri Lanka. Danny is an illegal immigrant, and he lives every day in fear of begin arrested and deported. One day, Danny finds himself in possession of knowledge that is critical for solving a murder. However, Danny hesitates to report the information, as doing so might expose his illegal status to the police. The novel explores themes of racism, law, injustice, and morality.
