All This Time Overview

Mikki Daughtry's novel, All This Time, is the story of Kyle and Kimberly, who have been a couple since grade school and are about to set out for college together. Kyle is heartbroken when Kimberly says she does not want them to attend the same college, but a tragic accident puts an end to their argument. When he wakes in the hospital, Kyle believes Kimberly is dead. Then, after finding the courage to visit the cemetery, he meets a girl named Marley who is grieving over a loss of her own. Marley leads him to experience true love for the first time. Kyle wakes again to discover the year he spent with Marley was only a dream. However, his heart assures him his feelings – and Marley – have to be real. The novel's main themes are coming of age, reality versus fantasy, and coping with grief.
