Alexander Hamilton (biography) Overview
"Alexander Hamilton" is a biographical account of the life of American Founding Father and first Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton, by writer Ron Chernow. Chernow not only traces Hamilton's rise and fall, but also details the duel which cost Hamilton his life. Chernow argues through "Alexander Hamilton" that historians and readers should not be afraid to render judgment on the past, that Hamilton's principal flaws included pride and overconfidence, and that Hamilton is emblematic of the American idea of the self-made man.
