A Wolf Called Wander Overview
Rosanne Parry's novel, A Wolf Called Wander, is the story of a wolf born in a litter of five. Wander spends more than a year with his pack, learning about life and the skills he will need to be a good leader. When a rival pack attacks Wander's pack, the two alpha males are killed, including Father, and the other wolves scatter. Wander briefly meets up with his brother, Warm, but Warm is badly injured and a chance encounter with humans separates them again. As Wander travels for the next month, he has a brutal encounter with an elk and wildfire. Eventually, he meets up with a beautiful female named Night, and they establish their own pack. The novel's main themes are the role of the pack, the importance of home, and the brutality of life.
