A Winter’s Promise is a fantasy novel. It was written by Christelle Dabos and translated from French to English by Hildegarde Serle. The novel follows Ophelia, a young woman who lives on a floating island called the Ark of Anima and has a talent for reading the histories of objects. When Ophelia becomes engaged to Thorn, the Treasurer of the Dragon clan on the Ark of the Pole, she must leave everything she knows behind to face the political plotting of this new and dangerous Ark. The novel explores themes of power, ambition, identity, culture, and obedience.
