A Tiger for Malgudi Overview
R. K. Narayan's A Tiger for Malgudi is a philosophical and spiritual novel that is told from the perspective of a tiger named Raja. Dealing with the themes of nature, civility, non-violence, it follows Raja as a young and fierce predator in the Indian jungle, as a captive in a travelling circus show, and, in his later years, as a companion to a mystic known only as the Master. Set in the jungles around the fictional city of Malgudi, Raja's story is one of the triumph of gentleness over aggression, and of the differences between outward appearances and inner qualities.
