A Separation is a novel written in in the first-person perspective of the protagonist, an unnamed translator who is separated from her philandering husband Christopher. After Christopher goes to Greece to do research for a book, he becomes impossible to reach, and the protagonist must go to Greece to find him. She decides that she will ask him for a divorce when she finds him, but unforeseen complications arise that force the protagonist to grapple with ambiguous moral quandaries.
