A Long Way From Home: A Novel Overview
A Long Way from Home is a novel by Peter Carey. It takes place in Australia in the 1950s. The story follows Irene and Titch Bobs, a married couple who enter a dangerous, long-distance car race in order to gain publicity for their car dealership. The novel also follows Willie Bacchuber, the Bobs’ neighbor who has a troubled past and who joins them as a navigator on the race. The novel explores themes of heritage, history, family, ambition, and injustice.
