A Dog’s Way Home is a contemporary novel of dogs by W. Bruce Cameron in which a mixed-breed dog named Bella sets out on a journey of hundreds of miles and several years to get home to her owner, Lucas, after Bella is taken away to safety following a dispute with animal control. A Dog's Way Home deals with important themes that range from the fact that dogs understand more than people give them credit for, to the idea that there is an innate, evolved, naturalized sense of devotion between people and dogs.
