Sarah Maas's fantasy novel, A Court of Silver Flames, is the fifth of this series. In this installment, Nesta Archeron is out of control until her sisters and friends force her to begin training. Through the training and newfound friendships, Nesta discovers the strength to face her past, her future, and her power. She develops an inner peace she had not realized she possessed. Nesta is forced into an ancient tradition in which she is willing to sacrifice herself for her friends, faces an evil crone who brings Nesta's powers out in force, and realizes she is willing to give up anything to save her sister's life. The novel's main themes are family dynamics, the need for purpose, and the importance of self-image.
