This character is a ten-year-old who was born with a several facial abnormality. He spent his younger years going through one surgery after another. People on the streets are shocked to see the boy, but those who know him well see him as a bright, funny boy with a sweet heart.

Auggie loves Star Wars, and he isn't in a hurry to grow up. He knows that others cringe when they see him, and he understands why. Still, he wants to be like other children. He appreciates relationships such as the one he has with Jack Will, and the hurt cuts deep when he feels he is betrayed. He is unwilling to face the issue head-on. This is true-to-character for the boy who mumbles and keeps his head down while walking through the hallway.
