Squashed pits sixteen-year-old Ellie Morgan and her giant pumpkin Max against the local pumpkin growing champ in the Rock River Pumpkin Weigh-in, where every pound counts. To stiffen the competition, Ellie is forced to deal with unpredictable weather, pumpkin thieves, and a father who completely misses the point.
