fl. c. 950
Indian mathematician whose interests included recreational mathematics and astronomy. The "II" in his name refers to Aryabhata (476-c.550), a much more well-known Hindu mathematician and astronomer after whom Aryabhata II modeled his work. Among the writings attributed to Aryabhata II is the Mahasiddhanta, in which he discusses "casting out nines," a concept in recreational mathematics.
