World of Chemistry on Alfred Burger
Alfred has spent close to seven decades researching drugs, their effects on the human body, their chemical design, and their abuse. By methodically analyzing their chemical makeup, Burger considerably expanded the knowledge of medicinal chemistry and of its far-reaching effects on the human population. Humans generally live longer than 50 years ago owing to a greater understanding of the medicinal qualities of certain drugs. Effective treatments for addiction have been developed thanks to a greater knowledge of some chemicals' addictive qualities. In fact, drugs can either help or harm human beings through their reactions with other chemicals. As Burger explained in an article for the Charlottesville Daily Progress, "Drugs are just chemicals.
